The Independent Foundation, hereinafter called the Foundation, was founded September 1999 after a donation of shares in Independent Intressenter AB and a capital sum of SEK 85 000 was made. The foundation today owns, except shares in a stakeholder, directly and indirectly, shares in several other limited liability companies. The Foundation has, because of its public service purpose, a limited liability to pay taxes.
The Foundations purpose is to promote research and similar contributions within jurisprudence, especially within the sector of financial services in an international perspective. The purpose will be met through distribution of research scholarships or grants to the manufacturing of scientific literary production. Scholarships or grants will only be granted to a person that is admitted as a postgraduate student at the Faculty of Law at the University of Stockholm. It is the purpose of the Foundation that it will operate long-term and that scholarships will be granted annually.
The Foundation's Board of Directors consists of Lars Söderqvist, Chairman, and Kristina Jonsson, active as lawyers at Wesslau Söderqvist Advokatbyrå and Ulf Blommé.
It is the intention of the Foundation to distribute up to SEK 85 000 to one or several scholarships during the year 2022. The scholarships will be granted to postgraduate students who researches financial services, as stated in the Foundations purpose.
The application shall be submitted on a certain form and must have reached the Foundation on the address stated below no later than November 20 November. The Foundation has commissioned Wesslau Söderqvist Advokatbyrå to administer the application process. After the date stated above Wesslau Söderqvist Advokatbyrå will, on behalf of the foundation, attend to the applications.
A decision regarding which applicants have been granted the scholarships will be announced by a message to the applicants. The payout of granted scholarships is set to early December.
Since the Foundation is interested in keeping up to date with the academic research within the Foundations scope of practice, the Foundation assumes that the applicant granted scholarship continuously sends copies of the scientific research e.g. articles and the upcoming thesis as well as the scholarship holder by word can present his or hers research results.
